I Want To Help You Feel Better.

Jen Weis Nutrition Philadelphia

As a Registered Dietitian, I am guided by the most up-to-date science and facts in order to help individuals feel better in their own bodies, have more energy, and get their chronic health issues under control.

I’ll never provide my clients with information that hasn’t been scientifically proven and tested, and I have a unique perspective on how to approach nutrition: I won’t tell you to completely give up everything you love as part of a healthy eating plan.

I wasn’t always professionally focused on nutrition. I started my career working in the legal field, but was always drawn to health and nutrition. I recognized that all the “advice” I was seeing in television, in magazines, and elsewhere was bad. It wasn’t just that the science behind a lot of it wasn’t always accurate, but also that it seemed purposefully confusing and manipulative.

Eventually, my passion for nutrition became professional and I received a second Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. After graduating, I spent four years at Nazareth Hospital, where I was immersed in clinical nutrition. I worked with patients who had little education about what proper nutrition looked like. I realized then how important it was to encourage open dialogue with my clients in order to ensure that they left armed with more knowledge than they arrived with and could feel confident about how they were eating at home. Often, this process took more time than my hospital schedule would allow.

After the birth of my son, I launched my private practice as a way to provide quality nutrition counseling to clients in a non-hospital setting. My clients are looking to improve their nutritional status by focusing on preventative care and ongoing follow-up care while living with various health issues, including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), diabetes, and cardiovascular issues.

I love being able to watch my clients learn to explore and love food in a way that they never have before. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch my clients experience “aha” moments around their approach to food and then also seeing the results firsthand when their physical and emotional health improves.

Top Nutrition Myths (That Drive Me Nuts!)

r

Following Fad Diets.

Diets don’t work, especially not the diet that’s trending at the moment.
r

Eating Organic Everything.

Believe it or not, eating all organic everything all the time isn’t necessarily the healthier choice (although it is more expensive!).
r

GMOs Are Bad For You.

The GMO Butterfly was basically created as a marketing effort to alert consumers about GMO products, however, they’ve started putting the butterfly on products that don’t even have the ability to be genetically modified, or don’t (can’t) have a GMO-alternative to consider.
r

Carbs Are Bad.

This one drives me crazy. Humans should eat carbs! In fact, they are part of a balanced diet, when you also factor in protein, healthy fats, and fiber.
r

Physical Activity Has to Be Intense.

Physical activity is important, but you don’t have to spend an hour every day running 5 miles. Daily physical activity can be as simple as taking a walk around the neighborhood, choosing the stairs instead of the elevator, or having a 10-minute dance party with your kids.

Jennifer is fantastic and really helped me get my eating under control! The pounds are coming off and I couldn’t be happier (and healthier). Highly recommended!!
